Recent Announcements:
New project in partnership with the UNDP and Red Cross
SeeSaw has been working on an exciting new project in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme and the Red Cross in Vietnam.
This project is making use of Snapture (our Android photo-taking application) to enable representatives from rural communities in Central Vietnam that have suffered the effects of recent typhoons, to report on damages and repairs required for housing. Community representatives use Snapture to take photos of beneficiaries, answer 'yes/no' questions and gather household information via a series of codes, as well as take photographic evidence of damage of each individual household.
To date, over 500 poor and near-poor households have undergone first and second stage assessments, in order to first qualify for emergency support for home repairs, and then track repair progress. A final assessment will be conducted to assess completion of repairs and gather feedback on the levels of satisfaction of households after receiving assistance.
Learn more about this project here
The project as indeed been so well received the Government of Vietnam and the UNDP that it has been extended to cover two more projects - one funded by the Government of Korea - read here on the UNDP’s blog - and another by the Green Climate Fund.

Xin chào! SeeSaw is in Vietnam!
You can take a look at our new regional introductory newsletter here.
In it we introduce SeeSaw and our work to the region, provide information on our current projects in Cambodia, and announce our participation in some local events and conferences.
Since 2015, SeeSaw has been exploring and working in the Asian market. With only one office based in Cape Town, we felt our impact could be greater and options more expansive if we open an office in Asia. We've selected Vietnam based on the relations we've developed and contacts we already have in the country, as well as its proximity to Cambodia (a country we have quite a handful of long-term projects in).
Moreover, similar to Africa, much work has been done within the water sector, but there is still a significant portion to be accomplished in order to ensure sustainable access to water resources for all.
So if you're in the region and would like to meet us, offer us a local home or benefit from some ‘free' advice, please let us know!
You can also share bit.ly/SeeSawInVietnam with anyone you think may be interested!
Cảm ơn nhiều lắm.

Genius of Space
Genius of Space (GoS) is working just a few kilometres away from our offices in Cape Town and is introducing a really unique biomimicry system. Working in the informal settlement of Langrug, GoS is constructing a wastewater treatment system to help eliminate water pollution in the Berg River.
So how is SeeSaw getting involved? GoS has employed a number of 'flow agents' to make sure the wastewater treatment system is functioning, clean, and being used by residents. We're introducing two of our systems to help monitor the status of the different components and flag problems to the project managers of GoS.

WEDC International Conference: July 2017
The 40th Water, Engineering and Development Centre (WEDC) International Conference took place from July 24th to 28th at Loughborough University, UK. WEDC is designed to bring together professionals in the WASH sector through a series of sharing experiences, including exhibitions and workshops facilitated by sector exports. You can find out more information about WEDC here.
We are excited, to once again, have had a paper accepted for WEDC. Our paper, "The Role of Human-Centred Design in Implementing ICT Solutions in WASH Projects", focuses on one of SeeSaw's guiding principles: the importance of creating solutions alongside the beneficiaries. Our paper uses lessons learned regarding appropriate and inappropriate design approaches in ICT projects in the WASH sector to showcase two case studies that we are implementing in Angola and South Africa.
You can find our paper here.
